Update 2/1/2026 I built this van 25 years ago and for the last 20 years just been dragging it around. Here is a quick run down of what/where and when.

Parents place (Avondale, Auckland):
This was the van I drove up from down the line, the one with the repaired front rail. I had done the roof chop and some of the side panels.

Took van to mates workshop where I found the bad repair so found another body and swapped for my front section. Started again from here.

Mates workshop (Henderson, Auckland):
swapped the van, roof chop, chassis, mid mount chevy, jag diff, panelled side windows.

Mate had a couple of big jobs come up so needed his workshop back, which is fair enough. Took the van to my brothers place

Brothers garage (Te Atatu, Auckland):
rear spoiler, inner flares, side skirts, tail lights

Got quite a bit of work done here much to the neighbours disgust, but brother wanted his garage back again, fair enough too.

Took the van to McQuoid Engineering (he's actually my neighbour), in exchange for me doing work for Murray I could use a hoist out the back.

Murray's workshop (Avondale, Auckland):
front spoiler, flares, steering

Was good being next door to the Toyota wrecker as well as pick a part behind but ended up doing to much work in the workshop and not enough on the van, so back to my mums place.

Mums place (Avondale, Auckland):
full size screen, bonnet

Bit more work here while riding motorbikes most weekends and courting my current partner in Hamilton. She doesn't mind cars.

Hamilton 1st house (Hamilton):
Nothing

Took it to Hamilton, out grow our then house so put it on the market. Bit of a mess up in dates so we ended up renting for a bit. SO before house sold off to mates farm to hibernate in the barn.

Friends barn (Newstead):
Stored

Felt bad having the van just sit there doing nothing so once we brought a house and got set up I brought the van back to stay. Is a two storey house with internal garage/workshop so I can look at the van everyday.

Current house (Hamilton):
rewired, side door, petrol tank

Today, in the year of 2026 it's back up on axle stands after it's only drive in public at the Van nationals last Easter (see the updates page for the video).

The only place I can see it going from here is to it's new owner. It deserves to be driven around, used, not just sit there and gather dust.
