The CF Bedford Rebuild Begins

Part 2: The strip down and findings

I only wanted the seams and wheel archs of the Bedford sand blasted this time around as I would remove the sills and rear quater panels etc to have them sand blasted as well later.

In some ways I am glad I did it this way as after the first blasting removed much of the bondo/bog/filler, many of the pillars where floating with no support due to rusting away.
Someone had spent some time on the van, but sadly didn't spend that little bit more to do it properly. Some rust sections were actually cut out but were filled in with heaps of bondo, all it needed was a plate welded in.

Every pillar was effected with rust, the rear quater panels were just about no longer there and the rest of the rust was sort of expected, or so I thought.
The drivers (right hand) windscreen pillar was probably one of the worst effected areas with the panel behind the drivers door needing the whole bottom of it removed.
The dents in the front guards (fenders) are usually caused by removing the front doors - badly.
As you can see it needs a lot of work, in some ways it's a blessing as I get to rebuild it all properly now, then again it's a lot of work I wasn't expecting to do.
Anyone want any rust?
